The Project

In short…

New Voices was born from the desire to provide inner city children in Bristol with free access to the Performing Arts. A group of final year Bristol University students decided it was time to connect the university with the local community, and hence New Voices was born in conjunction with a school in Lawrence Hill.

Over 1 school term, 10-15 year 7 students from the school were given the opportunity to participate in free, weekly after-school drama workshops, run by volunteer student mentors from the University of Bristol. Along with a specially commissioned playwright, the children and their mentors developed a show which was performed at the end of the term at the Tobacco Factory Theatres. The show was free to attend!
